Welcome to the Family Photo History Project
"We found this box of beautiful old pictures at my grandparents' house. We believe that they are relatives but no one seems to know their names or when the pictures were taken. What can we do with them?"
Sound familiar? Do you wish that your parents and grandparents had put names and dates in their photo albums?
People are more interested that ever in their family history. There are web sites dedicated to finding out who your ancestors were and where they came from. What did they look like? Do you have Uncle Eddie's nose, or Great-Grandma Susan's chin?
When you go through a current photo album, do you know the names and other information about the people in the pictures? Yes, of course you do. What if you go through one of your parents' photo albums? Or one of your grandparents'?
If those photo albums are like so many, the people and occasions depicted in the photos are unidentified.
The Family Photo History Project web site was designed to help you find these answers, whether you have the pictures or someone else in the family does. Now all of that history can be saved for future generations! Your grandson Richard, may want to know who is to blame for his receding hairline.
This is not your typical photo sharing web site. Some of the more familiar web sites let you share photos of Johnny's latest soccer game or Jamie's ballet recital, with family and friends. The purpose of the Family Photo History Project web site is to allow a family to save, protect and share their family photographic history, not just the current memories.
